Five music videos loosely tied together for the LA band Valley Boy’s first EP, “Thursday Friday.”

Amor Fati

Some kind of attempt at creating a mockumentary/documentary about Phox that was sorta half semi-true. I made it after internally announcing I was leaving the band and it was mostly for screening at Eaux Claires festival. Sort of maybe summarizing the point of the band up to that point and privately a goodbye film for me. I consider it a failure but I love a lot of it. The sound is shit and the writing is bad. But its failure sort of represents how the band wasn’t quite all vibing at that time. Particularly the tour sequence scene that just captures what its like to be on tour.

My first film score, The Dam Keeper, earned an Academy Award nomination, marking the beginning of my collaboration with Bay Area animation studio Tonko House, founded by former Pixar art directors Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo. Since then, I have composed the scores for all of their films, including the Netflix animated miniseries Oni: Thunder God’s Tale (Annie Award nominee for Best Music, 2023), the Emmy-nominated short film Namoo, the Annecy-winning Hulu Japan series Pig: The Dam Keeper Poems, and Bottle George, which was Oscar-shortlisted and won 'Best Music' at the 2024 Sapporo Film Festival.

Post Traumatic Confetti Disorder
2013

I wanted to make a film like this every month or so during Phox but only made it this one time. A mixture of fantasy, reality, tour footage, and internal psychoanalysis of each member of the band hyper-exaggerated or something. I don’t care. It’s my favorite Phox film by far though.
